One People, One Nation, One Singapore

Having faithfully watched the NDP every year since I was ten years old, I’ve always dreamt of being able to be a part of it. Of course at that time, I had never thought it possible for me to ever be able to perform for the National Day Parade. I was proven wrong last year, when I had the chance to perform for NDP. Performing for NDP is not as easy as it sounds. It takes a whole lot of effort, commitment and not to forget, the ability to persevere till the very end! The weeks before 9th August saw us with a lot of practices. These practice sessions were a grueling thing that left most of us exhausted and with muscle cramps. As a result, lesser time was spent for studying and for our CCAs. However, despite all these challenges, I can confidently tell you that I do not regret being an NDP Cheerleader. Though it was time-consuming and exhausting, I have benefited in a lot of ways from my NDP experience. It has forged many new friendships for me. It taught me the importance of working as a team. It instilled in me values such as resilience, responsibility and commitment. It gave me a sense of belonging. And most importantly, it reminded me of how truly fortunate I am to be a Singaporean. I have gained a lot of bittersweet memories from this event, memories that I would remember for the rest of my life. The opportunity to perform for your nation does not come often, and I am thoroughly honored and thankful to have this opportunity and to have my dream, of performing for NDP, come true!
