Participating in the NDP was definitely a great experience for me. Not only did I enjoy myself throughout the event, being able to be part of the NDP is something I am proud of as well. Well, I do need to admit that it is very tiring for us during the rehearsal period but as we put out the final show, everything become worthwhile. To be true, I did think of giving up halfway through due to the overwhelming pressure from my studies. However, I manage to hang on with the constant support from my family, school and friends who are and will always be by my side. In this view, NDP not only grant me a greater sense of belonging to Singapore, it also forge a stronger bond between my friends and I as we work together to achieve such a great performance, which we are all proud of. I am really lucky to be able to take part in such a meaningful event for it is really through such participation where youth like us feel that we are Singaporean.
2008 will be a memorable year to me. As much as I have been watching NDP for my past 17 years, being part of it in 2008 marks a different in my life. From now, NDP will be more than just a parade and National Day means much more than a holiday, it will be celebrated because I am a Singaporean and I want to be one. For this, 2008 NDP will always be remembered in my heart and never be forgotten, just like I will never forget that I am a Singaporean.
